The trenches in song and story
An evening with the Merritt Community Choir and the authors of a new book on the British Columbia experience with the First World War will occur on Saturday, Nov. 8 in the Nicola Valley.

Greg Dickson and Mark Forsythe’s From the West Coast to the Western Front was compiled from stories, artifacts and photos shared by CBC Radio’s BC Almanac listeners. Mark is the BC Almanac host.

Almost 56,000 men and women from B.C. served “King and Country” during the Great War. More than 6,200 of them died in battle. At least 335 men and women from the Nicola Valley served. At least 45 of them died.

Concert and authors’ talk will occur in the Merritt library, 1691 Garcia, beginning at 6 p.m.

The evening’s sponsors are the Nicola Valley Museum and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District Library System.
